Episode 4 of MBC’s ongoing drama Mary Kills People has kept viewers on the edges of their seats with a tense hospital confrontation that had viewers wondering: Is this the end of Woo So-jeong?
In Friday night’s broadcast, the air crackled with tension as Ban Ji-hoon (Lee Min-ki) arrived at Dr. Woo’s hospital—not as Cho Hyeon-woo, the patient, but as a detective sent to take her down. Backed by a team of officers and armed with a search warrant, Ban Ji-hoon’s sudden appearance turned the hospital corridors into chaos.
About The Drama
Mary Kills People is the Korean adaptation of the previous Canadian drama of the same name. This drama is directed by Park Joon-woo and written by Lee Soo-a. It has 12 episodes, following Dr. Woo So-jeong (Lee Bo-young), a compassionate but controversial physician who secretly helps terminally ill patients who can’t bear their sufferings anymore to end their lives through underground euthanasia.
She’s not alone; she has a partner in crime, Choi Dae-hyun (Kang Ki-young), who helps her collect the drugs she needs. Then there’s detective Ban Ji-hoon (Lee Min-ki), who steps in to investigate their illegal work. The drama airs every Friday and Saturday at 10pm KST on MBC.
Episode 4: Betrayal
I personally haven't recovered from last week’s twist, when it was revealed that Ban Ji-hoon was never a dying patient, but an undercover detective tracking Dr. Woo’s every move.
In episode 4, Ban Ji-hoon walks into her hospital with police in tow. When Dr. Woo sees him, her expression shifts from shock to cold. Her sharp gaze locked onto the man she once sympathized with.
As officers begin their search, whispers ripple through the staff. Ban Ji-hoon walks through the ER hallway as he tries to speak to Dr. Woo. Maybe he wanted to warn her, but she answered with a bitter smile.
The Question that Remains
Did Ban Ji-hoon come to arrest her, or to protect her? The episode ends without providing a clear answer, leaving us to speculate. Will Dr. Woo find a way to outsmart the law once again? If yes, how?
With six episodes still to go, Mary Kills People is quite successful in hooking viewers into wanting more.
